You are a HERO!

Heroes come in all shapes and sizes and rarely wear capes, however the idea of a cape-wearing superhero is worth exploring with kids during a global pandemic, when so many people are bravely serving their communities to keep us safe. And this includes children, as they remain at home helping to restrict the spread of the virus.

By Discovery Art Educator Stacey Grieff’s approach was lighthearted, focused on playfulness, kindness and courage. Students cut an old t-shirt to create the shape of their cape. Then they chose their superpower and designed a logo that symbolized it. These were painted onto the cape or secured to it. Students also created tiny capes with logos for their Pocket Pals from last week. These super duos will hopefully provide many opportunities for continued imaginative play!
